TPSA Discusses Market Potential in Canada for Indonesian Apparel and Footwear Exports

TPSA’s project partner, the Directorate General of National Export Development of the Ministry of Trade, organized a half-day sharing knowledge forum for SME apparel producers in Bandung. Bandung and its surrounding area is a well-known centre for apparel and textile producers in Indonesia. The forum was aimed at sharing knowledge and skills on strategies for Indonesian apparel firms to successfully export to Canada.

Said Fauzan Baabud, TPSA’s Indonesian project manager, made a presentation on the export opportunity of footwear in the Canadian market. Liliek Setiawan, TPSA apparel consultant, presented on lessons learned on exporting apparel products to Canada. In addition, two apparel SMEs that have been supported by the TPSA project to build their export capacity shared their experiences. These two SMEs are Unique and World KNK. They spoke about the skills and knowledge they had gained from participating in the TPSA project, including how to attend apparel trade show and to deal with potential buyers from Canada.

The event was opened by Marolop Nainggolan, Director of Export Development Cooperation, who was followed by an overview of the TPSA project and its partnership with the Ministry of Trade by Mrs. Nugraheni Prasetya Hastuti, Head of Sub Directorate America and Europe, Directorate General National Export Development.
