TPSA and the Advisory Centre on WTO Law (ACWL) held a training workshop that examined in detail the WTO agreements that are of interest to Indonesian government officials and provided a full explanation of their scope and main obligations. In particular, ACWL experts explained the avenues available to Indonesia to engage in dispute prevention, and the legal strategies that may enable Indonesia to prevail more as a complainant and to defend more successfully as a respondent.
The training programme also included practical exercises covering each of these agreements to enable the participants to better understand the disciplines in WTO law.
Upon the completion of this training programme, Indonesian government officials had a more detailed knowledge of the WTO agreements, which will allow them to best defend and protect the interests of the Government of Indonesia in a manner consistent with its obligations under WTO law.
